Personal investment holding company. Activity includes investments in private and public companies, consulting and philanthropic efforts.
Morgan Stanley and Co., New York, New York ~ Managing Director (1998-2005)
Senior firm relationship manager covering asset manager subsidiaries of Financial service firms, significant hedge funds and large financial sponsors. Responsibilities include directing strategic initiatives and allocating firm resources. (2002 - 2005) Head of Institutional Equity for Canada based in Toronto. Responsibilities included developing and executing business plan to establish an institutional equity presence in Canada and grow market share to drive investment banking revenue. This involved hiring and managing research analysts, sales professionals and equity traders. I returned to NY in ’02 to be one of 5 global relationship managers. (1998 - 2002)
UBS Securities LLC, New York, New York ~ Vice-president (1990 - 1998)
Responsible for building the cross-border equity business for UBS and covering Canada based institutional investors across all equity products including derivatives and convertibles. UBS presently covers Canada through a joint venture with a Canadian dealer. In February 1998, Morgan Stanley initiated contact and recruited me to return to Canada to build their equity business.
C.D. Lockie & Associates, Calgary, Canada ~ Principal (1985 - 1990)
Responsible for firm’s Corporate Policy and Procedures practice advising small to mid-sized businesses on best practices. Noteworthy clients included Engineered Project Management (1988 Winter Olympics), Bicla Enterprises (Netherlands export cooperative), Sindlinger & Co. of Wallingford, Pa.(micro economic data vendor) and UBS Canada. I sold my interest in C.D. Lockie upon joining UBS full-time in New York.
Federal Business Development Bank, Calgary, Canada ~ Credit analyst (1981 - 1985)
Started career as a financial analyst in this division of the Bank of Canada. Responsible for analyzing and evaluating business projects with potential political significance. The scope of these projects varied from domestic small business development to export receivables credit for large manufacturers. Left to establish consultant practice which leveraged Bank of Canada relationship.
