Atheneum Capital LLC, based in Norwalk, Connecticut, was founded by Richard Rankin in 2005. The Company’s activities include principal investments in private and public companies, providing vital growth capital to early stage enterprises. Atheneum Capital LLC is also involved in investment consulting activities and various philanthropic efforts. The Company focuses its business efforts on the life sciences, green energy and technology industries.
Prior to establishing Atheneum Capital, Richard was a senior managing director at Morgan Stanley in their global headquarters. He ran the Canadian business of Morgan Stanley in Toronto from 1998 to 2002 and returned to New York in a senior capacity in the firm’s strategic management group.
Richard began his career as a credit analyst and progressed through research, institutional equity sales and management and investment banking. He has a myriad of experience counseling corporations on a diverse range of issues including capital structure, financing, management policy, regulatory compliance and change of control.
Richard lives in Rowayton, Connecticut with his wife and two daughters. He has an active lifestyle which includes sailing, skiing and bicycling. Richard is the past president of the Rowayton Civic Association and past chairman of its Land Use Committee.
